Vietnam Data is an evidence platform dedicated to making data more accessible, understandable, and useful for decision-making in Vietnam.

Every year, valuable evidence is generated through official statistics, academic research, university projects, development programmes, and policy studies. Yet much of this knowledge remains scattered across reports, spreadsheets, institutional repositories, or student theses—rarely reaching the people who could benefit from it.

Vietnam Data bridges this gap.

We identify, curate, clean, and standardise publicly available data and research, transforming fragmented information into reusable datasets, visualisations, analytical insights, and policy resources. By combining rigorous data management with clear communication, we help make evidence easier to discover, understand, and apply.

Beyond publishing datasets, Vietnam Data develops thematic Data Hubs that bring together data, research, and practical insights on issues that matter to Vietnam—from disability inclusion and labour markets to education, public health, digital governance, and ethnic minority development.

We believe that data should not remain hidden in reports or forgotten after research projects end. Knowledge creates value only when it is shared, understood, and used.

We curate official statistics, academic research, and field-based evidence into clean datasets, clear visualisations, and accessible analytical resources for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the wider public.

Vietnam Data is an initiative led by a multidisciplinary team of journalists, researchers, and communication professionals with expertise in data journalism, evidence-based communication, and public policy.

Our team combines international academic training with extensive professional experience. Members have received advanced education from leading UK universities, including a Master’s degree in Data Journalism from Cardiff University and postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford.

The team has worked across journalism, academia, and international development. Members have reported for Vietnamese news organisations, contributed to internationally recognised publications such as The New York Times and The Guardian, and currently teach data journalism at the Academy of Journalism and Communication. They have also designed and delivered training, research, and communication projects for universities, media organisations, and development partners.

This blend of editorial expertise, analytical skills, teaching experience, and development practice enables Vietnam Data to produce high-quality data stories, policy analysis, research, and capacity-building programmes that support evidence-informed decision-making and public engagement.
